21 giugno: Primo GoSkateDay a Gaza
Il 21 di giugno è il giorno in cui gli skateboarder di tutto il mondo si prendono le città, in massa. Una pushata rumorosa, collettiva, potente: un fiume di rotelle che scorre sull’asfalto di tantissime strade del nostro pianeta.
Il GO SKATE DAY è un evento che ogni anno ci ricorda quanti siamo e quanto rumore possiamo fare. Nessuno spot è impossibile da skateare. Nessuna barriera, nessun confine si pone tra gli skateboarder e le forme della città.
Gli skateboarder odiano i confini per Costituzione: se aldilà di un cancello c’è una bella pool, scavalchiamo, giusto?
Immaginate ora di vivere in un luogo grande 365km circondato da muri alti 15m e profondi 20, coronati da filo spinato elettrificato e torrette di avvistamento da cui ti sparano con proiettili studiati appositamente per amputare gli arti. Pensate di vivere con il ronzio costante dei droni sopra la testa e con la minaccia perenne del prossimo bombardamento. Così si vive e si resiste a Gaza city da almeno 10 anni: sotto assedio.
Il 21 giugno 2021, un mese dopo l’ultimo pesante bombardamento che ha fatto più di 250 morti civili (67 bambini), anche a Gaza, Palestina, si terrà il GO SKATE DAY, con l’inaugurazione del primo skatepark vero e proprio realizzato in questa enorme “galera per innocenti”.
Dopo anni di viaggi oltre il confine militarizzato che separa la striscia di Gaza dal resto del mondo, lo skateboarding inizia ad espandersi anche in questo luogo che più di ogni altro ha bisogno di sentirsi culturalmente e praticamente vicino a tutto quello che sta “fuori”, nel mondo che a loro è negato con la forza militare.
Lo skateboarding ha sfondato di fatto il muro infame che separa questa popolazione giovanissima (il 75% della popolazione ha meno di 25 anni) dalla libertà di esistere oltre gli stretti confini della “striscia”. Sarebbe bello se i cortei del GO SKATE DAY 2021 volessero dare il benvenuto a Gaza che per la prima volta, tra pochi giorni, si unirà al coro rumoroso delle migliaia di città in cui masse di skateboarder invaderanno le strade. Sarebbe meraviglioso se un pezzo di Palestina sfilasse in questi cortei: per ricordare agli skateboarder gazawi che aldilà delle mura, qualcuno li sta aspettando per una bella session.

Portatevi un cartello.
Spingetevi sull’asfalto portando con voi un messaggio di solidarietà per la Palestina.

The 21st of June is the day during wich the skateboarders all over the world take back the cities, en masse. One big noisy, collective, powerful push: a river of wheels that flow on the asphalt of many streets in our planet.
Go Skate Day it’s an event that every year remember us how many we are and how much noise we can do together. No spot is impossible to skate. No border, no barrier keep us away from the city’s shape.
Skateboarders hate borders constitutively: if there’s a pool on the other side of a wall, we jump that wall, right?
Imagine now living in a 365km area surrounded by 15m high and 20m deep walls, crowned by barbed wire and watch towers from which they shoot bullet that are specially designed to provoke amputations. Imagine living with the constant buzzing of drones over your head and with the ever-present threat of the next bombing. This is the way people and children live and resist in Gaza for at least ten years: under siege.
The 21st of June 2021, one month after the last heavy bombing that provoke 200 civilian victims (67 of which were children, even in Gaza, Palestine, there will be a Go Skateboarding Day, with the inauguration of the first real skatepark built in this humongous “prison for innocents”.
After years of trips beyond the militarized border that which separates Gaza from the rest of the world, skateboarding start to expand even in this place, that more than many others need to feel close, culturally and practically, to everything stays “out there”, in the world that they have been denied with the military force.
Skateboarding has indeed break throught the infamous wall that separates this very young population (the 75% of them is lass than 25 years old) from the freedom to exist beyond the narrow borders of the “Strip”. It would be great if the wheels parade of Go Skateboarding Day 2021 will decide to welcome to Gaza, that for the first time, in a few days, will unite to the noisy chorus of the thousands cities in which masses of skateboarders will invade the streets. It would be marvellous if a piece of Palestine could march in these parades: to remember Gaza local skaters that beyond those walls, somebody is waiting them for a good session.

El 21 de junio es el día en que los skaters de todo el mundo se toman las ciudades, en masa. Un empujón ruidoso, colectivo, potente: un río de ruedas que fluye sobre el asfalto de muchísimas carreteras de nuestro planeta.
GO SKATE DAY es un evento que cada año nos recuerda cuántos somos y cuánto ruido podemos hacer. Ningún lugar es imposible de skatear. No se colocan barreras, no hay fronteras entre los skater y las formas de la ciudad.
Los skater odian las fronteras por “forma de pensar”: si hay una bonita piscina detras de una barrera… “saltemos, verdad?”
Ahora imaginen vivir en un lugar de 365 km2 rodeado por muros de 15 m de alto y 20 m de profundidad, con hilo espinado electrificado y torres de observación desde las qual te disparan con balas proyectadas para amputar artos. Piense en vivir con el ruido constante de los drones y la amenaza perenne del próximo bombardeo. Así es como hemos vivido y resistido en la ciudad de Gaza durante al menos 10 años: bajo asedio.
El 21 de junio de 2021, un mes después del último bombardeo intenso que dejó 200 civiles muertos (67 niños), también se celebrará el GO SKATE DAY en Gaza, Palestina, con la inauguración del primer skatepark de tamaño olímpico construido en esta enorme “prisión para inocentes”.
Después de años de viajar más allá de la frontera militarizada que separa Gaza del resto del mundo, el skate comienza a expandirse también en este lugar que más que otros necesita sentirse culturalmente y prácticamente más cerca de todo lo que se queda “afuera”, en el mundo que se les niega por la fuerza militar.
El skate ha roto efectivamente el muro infame que separa a esta población muy joven (el 75% de la población tiene menos de 25 años) de la libertad de existir más allá de los confines de la Gaza. Sería guay que los desfiles del GO SKATE DAY 2021 quisieran dar la bienvenida a Gaza, que por primera vez, en unos días, se unirá al ruidoso coro de las miles de ciudades donde masas de skaters invaden las calles. Sería maravilloso si un trozo de Palestina fuese en estos desfiles: para recordar a los skater gazawos que más allá de los muros, alguien los está esperando para una buena sesión.
